Sweet French toasts

A lazy breakfast together is now another opportunity to encourage your children to cook. They’re very easy to make, and their taste is invariably associated with joy and summer holidays.

Another advantage is that in this recipe you can use stale bread and teach your kids not to waste food. The Velvet paper towels will certainly give you some additional support .

Ingredients:

  • 1 piece of French bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 100ml (3.4oz) of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • clarified butter
  • seasonal fruit, powdered sugar or maple syrup

Preparation:

In a deep plate, beat the eggs with a fork and combine them with milk and sugar. Cut the bread into medium thick slices and soak it well in the egg and milk mixture (be careful not to make the bread too soggy!)

Put a frying pan on medium heat and spread 3 tablespoons of butter throughout the whole surface. As soon as the butter warms up, place the soaked bread slices on it and fry them for about 2 minutes on each side until the bread starts getting lightly brown. Then, put the prepared toasts on a plate covered with a Velvet paper towel that will absorb the excess oil.

Before frying another serving, clean out the pan with a piece of the paper towel and melt a new portion of butter.

We’re absolutely sure that the kids will love such a Saturday breakfast, especially combined with a family film screening of “Toast (2010)” .

Serve the toasts with powdered sugar or maple syrup along with your favorite seasonal fruits.
